On Saturday night, Prada hosted an event in Beijing, reissuing the highly acclaimed Spring 2011 collection for a Chinese customer. The demand for luxury goods has been growing exponentially in China over the past few years, so it is a smart move, on the part of the label, to invest in the market.
In addition to familiar pieces from the Milan show, new items were also shown specifically for Chinese retailers. Others (like the the striped green dress, originally done in cotton) were rethought. From what I can see, the new pieces had a much more glamorous feeling to them, often composing of paillettes. There were also some new fur toppers to go with Spring’s stoles.
